About the Client
Our client, AMIA (American Medical Informatics Association), is a leading U.S.-based healthcare association dedicated to advancing the education and practice of health informatics. AMIA connects medical students, clinicians, researchers, and healthcare professionals while promoting collaboration across healthcare, research, and public health. Before partnering with MapleLMS, AMIA did not have a dedicated Learning Management System (LMS) to manage and deliver its educational programs.
The Challenges
As AMIA’s training programs expanded, they needed a centralized platform to manage courses, videos, quizzes, surveys, and prerequisite learning paths. They also wanted to improve member engagement by awarding continuing education credits and certificates upon course completion.
The association required seamless integration with Salesforce to store learner data, including enrollments, course completions, certifications, and earned credits. They also needed Single Sign-On (SSO) with Fonteva AMS so members could access both systems using one login.
Their paid course enrollment process was manual and time-consuming, requiring payment verification before learners could access training. In addition, AMIA required support for multiple continuing education credit types, such as CME and CEU, along with course renewal functionality that allowed learners to retake courses without viewing previous quiz responses or assessment attempts.
MapleLMS Solution
MapleLMS implemented a Salesforce-native LMS with two-way integration to Fonteva AMS. The platform enabled administrators to create and manage courses, assessments, videos, surveys, certifications, and prerequisite learning paths from a single location.
Learner data automatically synchronized with Salesforce, providing real-time reporting on enrollments, completions, certifications, and credits. Single Sign-On delivered a seamless learning experience, while the Fonteva storefront integration automated paid course purchases and enrollments.
MapleLMS also supported multiple continuing education credit types, including CME and CEU, and increased learner engagement through certificates, badges, points, and leaderboards. Configurable course renewal settings ensured members could retake courses with fresh assessments while preserving complete learning transcripts and certification records.
The medical association needed a Salesforce-native learning management system that could streamline member learning, automate certifications and renewals, support multiple continuing education credits, integrate seamlessly with Fonteva AMS for single sign-on and enrollments, and centralize all learning data within Salesforce.
